A Shelton resident was arrested July 22 in connection to the July 15 burglary and assault of a 78-year-old woman in Ansonia.
John Filippone, 60, was located at the Veterans’ Hospital in West Haven and charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree assault of an elderly person and sixth-degree larceny.
Filippone allegedly broke into the Tremont Avenue woman’s home in the middle of the night, ordered her to the ground and stole $40 cash, along with her purse.
“He is being held on a $500,000 bond with a court date of July 23 in Derby,” Lt. Wayne Williams said in a prepared statement July 22.
The victim had minor injuries.
