The Ansonia Police Department will hold its annual awards ceremony Thursday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in Ansonia High School.
The department holds the ceremony yearly to present awards to officers for going above and beyond the call of duty in the course of their jobs.
The department will also bestow its highest honor, the Brian F. Phipps Memorial Award of Excellence, named after a former city police commissioner and retired brigadier general.
Last year officer Barry McMahon won the Phipps award, nominations for which come from officers themselves.
Patricia M. Ferrick, the FBI’s Special Agent in Charge of its New Haven office, is also scheduled to speak at Thursday’s event.
