ANSONIA Here are some highlights from the Ansonia Police Department’s calls for service from March 3, 2025 through March 9, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Ansonia police received 293 calls for service and made 17 arrests between March 3, 2025 and March 9, 2025.

MARCH 3, 2025

1:01 a.m. Police received a report of disorderly conduct on E. Main Street.

1:08 a.m. Police arrested two men, from Seymour and Bridgeport, on Pershing Street and charged them each with second-degree breach of peace. The Bridgeport man was also charged with resisting arrest.

12:59 p.m. A caller reported illegal parking near Jewett and Platt streets.

9:28 p.m. Police responded to a call on Berkshire Road reporting intimidation.

MARCH 4, 2025

5:57 a.m. Police conducted a motor vehicle stop near Prindle Avenue and Pulaski Highway.

10:27 a.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Main Street.

10:55 a.m. Police arrested Michael Dupre, 51, on Woodlawn Avenue. He was charged with misrepresentation of a controlled substance, three counts of selling a narcotic substance, two counts of selling a hallucinogen, and operating a drug factory. Dupre is alleged to have sold counterfeit Xanax pills to two women, aged 24 and 40, who each died after taking them.

2:59 p.m. A caller lodged a complaint on W. Brookside Avenue concerning a cat.

4:44 p.m. Police responded to a report of shoplifting on W. Main Street. Police arrested a 43-year-old Derby man and charged him with sixth-degree larceny.

MARCH 5, 2025

7:30 a.m. Acting on a search warrant, police said they found child pornography in the home of Joseph Alfano. Alfano, 28, was arrested and charged with possession of child sex abuse material.

12:13 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on N. Spring Street.

2:13 p.m. A 25-year-old man was arrested on Holbrook Street and charged with second-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and two counts of interfering with an emergency call.

2:17 p.m. Police received a report of a disabled motor vehicle on Main Street and Maple Street.

4:00 p.m. Police arrested Carl Brown, 29, of Bridgeport, and charged him with third-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit larceny, and second-degree breach of peace. Brown is alleged to have recorded a robbery in a video uploaded to Facebook, in which he egged on the robber.

6:45 p.m. Police arrested Tashiria Sparks, 19, and charged her with the same charges as Brown, plus one count of second-degree threatening and one count of first-degree unlawful restraint. She is alleged to have stolen a victim’s wallet and phone after a minor car accident outside The Spot on E. Main Street.

MARCH 6, 2025

12:57 a.m. Police arrested a 28-year-old woman from New Rochelle, NY, and charged her with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

8:49 a.m. Two public works employees called animal control upon finding two tortoises frozen after being abandoned near Beaver Street. Animal control officer Jeannie Roslonowski brought the turtles to the vet and then to Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, where one was pronounced dead and the other was placed in an incubator.

11:00 a.m. Police arrested Casey Barker, 27, and charged him with negligent storage of a firearm and risk of injury to a child. The arrest sprang out of an earlier investigation, police said, after the man allegedly shot his girlfriend in the leg by accident.

8:03 p.m. Police received a report of illegal parking on Clarkson and Holbrook streets.

MARCH 7, 2025

1:25 a.m. Police received a report of hazardous road conditions on Pershing Drive.

8:45 a.m. Police responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle on Woodlawn Avenue.

9:46 a.m. A caller reported fallen utility wires on Kiley Lane.

1:08 p.m. A caller reported an abandoned motor vehicle on Wakelee Avenue.

MARCH 8, 2025

2:33 a.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on N. Main Street. A 31-year-old Seymour man was charged with driving under the influence, distracted driving, speeding, and failure to drive in the proper lane.

3:00 a.m. Police arrested Ryan Ortiz, 39, after responding to reports of a gun being fired from his home on Franklin Street. Ortiz was charged with five counts of criminal possession of a firearm, and two counts of criminal possession of a pistol.

6:00 p.m. Police conducted a traffic stop on Main Street and issued a misdemeanor summons to a 55-year-old woman for driving without insurance, lack of registration, and operating a motor vehicle under suspension. 

10:59 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity on Ford Street.

MARCH 9, 2025

3:05 p.m. A caller reported an outside fire on Ridge Road.

3:08 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Prospect Street and Viselli Court.

8:33 p.m. A caller reported harassment via phone or an electronic device.

10:28 p.m. Police received a report of disorderly conduct on Friars Drive.
