Police charged a 16-year-old Ansonia girl they say was involved in two burglaries in the Hilltop area of town.
The girl’s name was not released because she was charged as a juvenile. Court proceedings against juveniles are kept secret in Connecticut.
In a prepared statement, Lt. Andrew Cota said another arrest is expected in the case.
The break-ins took place in January, on Webster Drive and Beverly Drive.
The burglaries occurred during the day, police said at the time, and no one was home during either break-in.
Cota said the girl was booked Monday at the police department and brought to Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center.
“Electronic items, money, and jewelry were stolen in the burglaries,” Cota’s statement said. “Most of the items were retrieved when detectives executed a search warrant at the residence of the female.”
The girl faces the following charges:
- two counts of third-degree burglary
- two counts of third-degree criminal mischief
- two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary
- two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree criminal mischief

“An arrest is expected in the near future for the male suspect involved in the burglaries,” the statement said.
