Ansonia Police Charge Two More Teens With Threatening

ANSONIA — Police said two more Ansonia High School students were arrested Tuesday as part of an investigation into threatening messages posted online.

The arrests come a day after the high school had to dismiss early because of a threatening message that allegedly originated from a 14-year-old boy. That teen was charged Monday with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

On Tuesday, Ansonia police said a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were charged after additional threatening messages were discovered,” according to a statement from police.

The pair is charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

Court proceedings involving juveniles are closed to the public

The Ansonia Police Department strongly urges all parents to speak with their children about the importance of understanding what they say and the effect it can have on not only themselves but also all the people around them. We encourage parents to closely monitor what their children are doing online,” Lt. Patrick Lynch said.

In a separate incident Monday, five students at Seymour High School were charged with breach of peace for allegedly posting a threatening image online, apparently with the group holding Airsoft guns.

People connected to the group, including a family member, used The Valley Indy Facebook wall Tuesday to say the image was not threatening and that the group’s action did not need police involvement.

The incidents in Ansonia and Seymour are part of a rash of such incidents happening all over the country.
