Overnight Tuesday the mayor of San Marcos contacted The Valley Indy through email saying that a young child had been found without parents in her city. A constituent sent the mayor a Valley Indy story about the Ansonia baby’s disappearance. The two children looked like each other.
However, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch told The Valley Indy the child in California was not baby Vanessa.
The parents of the child found in San Marcos were subsequently located.
The Ansonia Police Department continues its search for baby Vanessa, who is now 2 years old.
Her mother, Christine Holloway, was found dead in their home in Ansonia in December 2019. Vanessa’s father, Jose Morales, was charged in February 2020 with Holloway’s murder, along with tampering with evidence. He pleaded not guilty and his case is pending in court. Police said Morales was the last person with baby Vanessa, whose image has been shared across the nation.
Morales is due back in court Jan. 21.
