Police: Boy Lucky After Fall From Window

A 10-year-old Ansonia boy is lucky to be alive after falling out of a window at a home on York Street Monday evening.

The boy might have fractured his pelvis, and sustained plenty of cuts and bruises, but did not sustain life-threatening injuries, according to Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota.

Police and paramedics responded to the home Monday evening on a report of a child falling out of a third-floor window, Cota said Tuesday afternoon.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found the 10-year-old, who had fallen about 25 feet onto some bushes and grass in front of the house.

The boy was conscious and alert, Cota said, and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for evaluation.

Police determined there was no foul play, and that the boy had been playing with his 9‑year-old brother near the window when he fell accidentally.

They were messing around,” Cota said, saying there was no criminal intent related to the boy’s fall. We’re satisfied with the answers we were given.”

Cota said the 10-year-old was fortunate to escape more serious harm.

He was very lucky just in the way he fell,” he said.
