Someone fired five rounds from a gun near the intersection of Winter and Fourth streets late Tuesday in Ansonia.

No injuries were reported.

There was no property damage either, police said.

Police received a report of four or five shots fired about 11:15 p.m. in the area of North State and Fourth streets.

A bunch of officers searched the area, but there was neither a victim nor suspect.

However, police found five shell casings near Winter and Fourth, Ansonia police Lt. Andrew Cota said.

We checked with the hospitals in Derby, New Haven, Waterbury and Bridgeport and they had no reports of anyone suffering from gunshot wounds. A canvass of the area did not reveal anything the was damaged,” Cota said.

The case is open, but police have little to go on, Cota said.

Neighbors in the area told police they heard people outside and then heard gunfire, but police don’t have solid descriptions.
