Ansonia Police Investigated A Report Of Shots Fired Wednesday

ANSONIA City police investigated a report of shots fired in the area of Nolan Field Wednesday.

Police received reports of gunfire around 12:30 a.m.

No one was hurt and no direct evidence of gunplay was recovered. However, Lt. Patrick Lynch said police believe the report was credible, based on the number of people interviewed.

Police searched the area stretching from Nolan Field north toward Tri-Town Plaza.

Police also reached out to local hospitals to see if any gun shot victims turned up in the emergency room.

The incident follows a shooting that happened near the intersection of Liberty and Fifth streets late Saturday.

No injuries were reported in that incident. Cars and a house were hit.

Lynch said there’s nothing to connect the two incidents at this point. He said police are following leads in an effort to make an arrest in connection to Saturday’s gun fire.
