ANSONIA — Police are investigating a report of shots fired on Fourth Street Thursday. No injuries were reported.

Police received multiple reports of gunshots at 1 p.m., according to a prepared statement from Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch.

Officers responding to the scene found several shell casings on Fourth Street and Star Street,” Lynch said.

Witnesses told police three people — possibly men, witnesses said — were walking in the area and started firing guns near Fourth Street’s intersection with Star Street. All three of the suspects fired weapons, police were told.

Several shots hit a house in the densely-populated neighborhood, and one parked car. The incident happened not far from Gatison Park and a small shopping plaza. The area has seen several shootings or reports of shots fired going back years.

The suspects were dressed in dark clothing. They were wearing winter hats and masks, police said. They were last seen running from the scene and getting into an older model red Hyundai.

Anyone with information should call Ansonia police at 203 735 1885.
