Bellefeuille
ANSONIA – Police arrested an Enfield resident who allegedly participated in an April street takeover on Wakelee Avenue.
Zackary Bellefeuille, 25, was arrested June 30 and charged with first-degree riot, conspiracy to riot, first-degree risk of endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace, according to a statement from police.
Police said Bellefeuille descended on Wakelee Avenue with about 100 other people in the early hours of April 26, blocking traffic.
Police said an officer arrived on the scene at about 12:30 a.m. Soon after, a crowd of people began advancing toward his car.
Bellefeuille is mentioned in the arrest warrant for another suspect in the street takeover — Madison Braska, who was charged in June.
The officer backed up to keep space from the crowd, according to the warrant, and bumped into Bellefeuille’s car.
Bellefeuille then allegedly confronted police on the scene.
“During the interaction with Bellefeuille and Officers after the accident, Bellefeuille is observed acting irate, screaming and yelling the entire time as neighbors are now outside of their homes,” the warrant states.
Bellefeuille is the third person to be arrested in connection to the takeover, police said. Police arrested a 17-year-old male in May. Police said they expect more arrests to come.
Bellefeuille posted a $35,000 bond and is next due in court July 22, according to the state judicial website.
Police released dashcam footage of the street takeover, embedded below. Police have requested the public’s help in identifying the people in it.
