A police raid on a Hall Street apartment Monday morning netted brass knuckles, marijuana and two arrests.
Members of the Westside Block Watch had been complaining about drug sales, which prompted the investigation that led to Monday’s raid of a second floor apartment at 30 Hall St.
Inside police said they found about 10 baggies filled with marijuana, some cash, drug paraphernalia and brass knuckles.
Police arrested Hall Street residents Sheridan McCarthy, 23 and Daryl Venson, 24.
McCarthy is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. She was being held Monday afternoon on a $10,000 bond with a tentative court date on Sept. 13.
The same charges and bond were lodged against Venson. He’s also due in court Sept. 13.
The Block Watch launched in November 2009 after residents began complaining about crimes in the city’s Fourth Ward. They meet regularly at the Charter Hose Co. headquarters on Murray Street.
Police officers, including detectives, attend the meetings — and residents said they’ve seen results.

In May, Block Watch founder Ed Norman announced the group received an $800 grant, which was to be used to spread the word about the organization. Click the video to hear Norman talk about the grant.
Norman sent out an e‑mail Monday to members of the Block Watch.
“We are grateful to the APD for their hard work and diligence in eliminating this problem,” he wrote.
