Ansonia Police Release Name Of Homicide Victim

ANSONIA — Police on Thursday released the name of the man who was shot and killed on Hubbell Avenue last Tuesday.

He was identified as Johnny Class, 20, of Stratford. His killer, or killers, remain at large.

Services for Class were held Saturday, April 9 at Morton’s Mortuary in Bridgeport. His obituary lists his full name as Johnny L. Class, Jr.

On April 5 just before 1 p.m, Class was a passenger in a Honda Civic on Hubbell Avenue when someone fired into the car at close range, striking Class. Click here for a previous Valley Indy story.

Police said the shooting happened during an attempted drug purchase.”

The shooter may have been with two other people who approached the Honda.

Two other people were in the Honda with Class.

The driver took off after the gunfire, and stopped on Main Street at the intersection of Kingston Drive and called for help. Class was not conscious when medics unloaded him from the front passenger’s seat onto a stretcher.

The investigation into Mr. Class’ death is still active with several strong leads and we are hopeful the investigation will lead to the arrest of the person or persons responsible,” according to a statement from Lt. Patrick Lynch.
