ANSONIA — Detectives are following several solid leads in connection to a bank robbery at the ION Bank on Tremont Street in downtown Ansonia Tuesday afternoon.
Lt. Patrick Lynch said police received a report of a bank robbery at about 12:44 p.m.
The suspect, described as a white male, showed the teller a note but did not display a weapon nor make a verbal threat, Lynch said.
The bank employee handed over money and the suspect walked out. No injuries were reported.
“The detective bureau is attempting to identify the suspect and we’re following several good leads,” Lynch said.
More information will be released later.
The bank robbery happened as Ansonia police were in the process of relocating to a new department at 65 Main St. A new 911 system was scheduled to be installed Tuesday morning.
The ION Bank is next to the former Big Y off Main Street.
