Ansonia police are searching for the driver of a car who crashed into a utility police on North Main Street late Thursday night.
The driver fled the scene after wrecking his car and splitting the utility pole in half at about 11:15 p.m.
“The driver is described as a young black make who was seen by witnesses running from the scene just after the accident,” Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said in an e-mail.
The crash caused people in the area to lose electricity overnight. Route 115 was closed in both directions as of 9 a.m. at Colony Road.
United Illuminating and AT&T were still working on repairing the busted pole at 8:30 a.m., Cota said.
Valley Indy readers on Facebook reported on the crash as it happened.
