Hello fellow Ansonia residents: some of you may know that I am the chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
I wanted to let everyone know that we have two large applications in front of our commission right now.
They involve buildings at 158 and 200 Main St.
The applicant is proposing to redo the inside and outside of both buildings, covert the floors above the Main Street level to residential, with a mix of studio, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
Both buildings are very dated and, according to the owner, have been mostly vacant for the better part of 10 years.
They are utilizing new regulations we approved a year or so ago for development in a Transit Oriented District or TOD, which focuses on the use of public transportation and an urban lifestyle (both are next to the train station on West Main Street).
Parking requirements are very different for these developments and the commission studies this very closely.
Our public hearing/meeting is April 29 at 6:30 p.m. for the public hearing and 7 p.m. for our regular meeting.
This is the first development of its kind and we would like to hear from you — the residents!
Please come and voice how you feel about the redevelopment in our downtown!
Please note to officially comment on these applications you must be at the public hearing. Unfortunately we do not yet have a provision for participation electronically.
See you there!
Our commission is excited to see what the future hold for our city and we want you all to be a part of helping us shape it!!
