Ansonia Registrars: Vote Safely On Tuesday

ANSONIA — The following press release was sent by Democratic Registrar of Voters Thom Maffeo and Republican Registrar of Voters David Papcin:

The Democratic and Republican Primaries will be held Tuesday, August 11th, 2020 at your regular polling location. This election is open to all registered Democratic and Republican voters in the City of Ansonia. The Ansonia Elections Department will not let COVID-19 stop residents from getting out to vote!

However, because of COVID-19, we are taking extra precautions to ensure a safe voting experience.

Many of you may have received an Absentee Ballot application in the mail from the CT Secretary of the State’s office. Ballots have been issued and mailed from their mailhouse. If you have not received your absentee ballot yet, please contact the Ansonia Town Clerk’s office at (203)736‑5980.

If you have not already mailed your ballot yet, we recommend using the Ballot Dropbox on the side of Ansonia Town Hall. This box is routinely checked by the Town Clerk’s office. All ballots received by Tuesday, August 11th at 8PM will be counted! Any ballots received after 8PM cannot be counted.

If you choose to vote in person at your poll, we ask that you please follow our pandemic guidelines:

  • Please Wear a Facial Covering or Mask
  • Please Maintain Social Distancing of 6ft per party (In the past we have asked that you maintain 4 feet for privacy, so think of this as a little extra privacy!)
  • Please have your ID ready for the Clerk to check you in
  • Please minimize your contact with others in the poll. This is not the time for social hour!
  • If you’d like, you may bring your own Blue or Black ink pen to vote (No other ink colors are acceptable)

As mentioned, your polling location will be the same as all elections. The polling locations are:

Ward 1: Ansonia Armory, 25 North Cliff Street

Ward 2: Ansonia Armory, 25 North Cliff Street

Ward 3: Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive

Ward 4: Ansonia Middle School Gym, Voter Entrance on Day Street

Ward 5: Ansonia Middle School Gym, Voter Entrance on Day Street
Ward 6: Prendergast School, 59 Finney Street

Ward 7: Mead School, 75 Ford Street

The polls will be open from 6:00AM to 8:00PM. If you are in line by 8:00PM you will be allowed to vote however if you are not in the poll by 8pm you will not be allowed to vote, so please be timely!

Our Election Staff looks forward to seeing you and hope that you have a safe voting experience. See you Tuesday!
