George S. Logan, Director of Engineering & Water Resource Planning for Aquarion Water Company was recently honored at the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC) Industry Awards Event held in Plantsville, Connecticut.
Logan’s contributions to the Connecticut construction industry were recognized by a panel of judges as he was named Private Owner of the Year from the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut, the building division of the Connecticut Construction Industry Association.
“George’s leadership on construction projects is noteworthy not only to Aquarion, but to our entire industry,” said Aquarion President and CEO Charles V. Firlotte. “He has provided more than twenty years of effective leadership in water utility engineering and construction, all of which have contributed to delivering safe, clean water to our customers. I could not think of a more deserving winner of the AGC Industry Award and I join with the Connecticut Construction Industry Association in congratulating him for his achievement.”
Logan began his career at Aquarion in 1992 as a Junior Engineer and worked his way up to his current role as the department Director.
Among his responsibilities are pipeline design and construction, treatment and pumping facility design and construction, water supply planning, permitting, distribution system analysis and water quality treatment.
In his role, he has been responsible for water utility engineering and construction for more than 80 public water supply systems.
Logan has been recognized for both his many professional and community contributions.
He was the prior winner of the Gold Connecticut Innovation Prize, and the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Excellence Award, and in 2012, he was presented with the Connecticut Yankee Council Energy Industry Good Scout Award.
Under his leadership, Aquarion has won awards for numerous projects, including American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York’s Platinum Award for Engineering Excellence for the upgrades to the $40 million Stamford Water Treatment Plant in 2008. Some of the activities and organizations in which Logan has been involved include the Connecticut Pre-Engineering Program, and the State of Connecticut African-American Affairs Commission (former Chairman).
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of Central Connecticut Coast YMCA. Logan also serves as an officer of both the Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut and Griffin Hospital.
Logan was born in New Haven and attended local schools, graduating from Notre Dame High School in West Haven. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in 1991 from Trinity College and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport in 1995. He is a resident of Ansonia, where he lives with his wife and children.
