Ansonia Residents Arrested In Bridgeport Raid


Two Ansonia residents were among 29 people arrested in a state police raid in Bridgeport and Stratford Wednesday.

State police, working with Bridgeport and Stratford police departments, searched seven homes and one car early Wednesday — finding drugs, guns and cash. 

Twenty-nine people were arrested in the raid, including two Ansonia residents who were charged for narcotics offenses. 

State police said they found the following in their raid:

  • 104 bags of heroin
  • eight grams of marijuana
  • three ounces of crack cocaine
  • one loaded handgun
  • 44 bullets
  • $7,847 in cash

The Ansonia residents charged in the raid were:

Iris Pesante, 30, of Beaver Street, and John Roman, 43, of Beaver Street. 

Pesante was charged with conspiracy to sell narcotics, sale of narcotics, and sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school. 

Roman was charged with three counts of sale of narcotics, three counts of sale of narcotics within 1,500 of a school, risk of injury to a minor, conspiracy to sell narcotics, and operating a corrupt organization and racketeering activity. 

Their cases will be heard at Superior Court in Bridgeport. 

The other 27 suspects face similar charges and also weapons charges. 

The police involved in the investigation held a press conference at the Troop G Barracks Wednesday.
