
The Naugatuck Valley Health District said Friday six more residents have died COVID-19 associated deaths, including a resident from Ansonia, a grim first for the city.
The Ansonia resident was described as a man in his 80s. The NVHD also received a report of a Derby man in his 70s passing away.
“The other four decedents were residents of nursing homes and/or assisted living facilities in Seymour (1) and Shelton (3),” according to a statement from the health district.

According to the data, 741 people in Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton have tested positive for COVID-19. Seventy-one people have died.
Since March 14, 843 COVID-19 patients have been discharged across hospitals owned by Yale-New Haven Health.
Of the 71 Valley deaths, 59 were residents of nursing homes or assisted living facilities in Seymour or Shelton. Click here for a previous Valley Indy story on nursing home data.
