Ansonia Teen Picked For NRA Youth Summit

An Ansonia teen will participate in the National Rifle Association’s annual National Youth Education Summit in Washington D.C. this summer.

Patrick Coyle, a sophomore at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School, was one of 45 students in the country picked to attend the expense-paid trip to Washington D.C.

Each year the NRA selects the best and the brightest students to visit the nation’s capital where participants learn the significance of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights while developing an understanding of federal government and the importance of active participation. Students tour the U.S. Capitol, the National Archives Museum, the Pentagon, the NRA National Firearms Museum, and many of the memorials and monuments in Washington, D.C.,” according to the summit’s website.

Coyle, 16, was previously recognized for helping save another teen’s life during a U.S. Navy Sea Cadet program training drill in Massachusetts last summer.

Coyle also volunteers in Ansonia for the Ansonia Rescue Medical Services.
