The Board of Aldermen Tuesday recognized a city teen who helped save another teen’s life during a training drill in Massachusetts this summer.
Patrick Coyle was surrounded by his family and members of the Ansonia Rescue Medical Services, where he is a member of the junior corps, when Mayor James Della Volpe read a commendation to the public.
Coyle, who is 15, helped keep a 14-year-old girl conscious after she suffered a medical emergency during a running drill.
On Tuesday, he thanked ARMS for providing him with the medical training he needed to respond to the situation and encouraged others to spend time volunteering for the ambulance corps.
He also thanked his family for their support, specifically his father.
“He’s always here for me, and I just really love him very much,” Coyle said to the Board of Aldermen during his thank you remarks.
