Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti on Tuesday cut the first of what he hopes will be many ribbons at new businesses in the city, welcoming the Personal Care America Federal Credit Union to a new location.
The business is located on the second floor of 200 Main St., which stands at Main Street’s intersection with Kingston Drive.

Even “Credit Union Man,” a “superhero” who draws attention to the wonders of credit unions, made an appearance.
The Ansonia office represents the Trumbull-based company’s fifth location. There are other branches in Fairfield, Jefferson City, MO, and Jonesboro, AR.
The company serves as a credit union for a number of different employee groups, President/CEO John Keet Jr. said at Tuesday’s event.
They came to Ansonia after acquiring the Farrel Corp. credit union in a merger late last year, he said.
“Their office was inside their manufacturing facility so we wanted to get out into the community where we could tap into the other employee groups that are available,” Keet said.

Keet said Delgado would be the lone full-time employee at the branch for the time being.
“We’re hoping if things take off we’ll be able to add staff,” he said. “We’re the only credit union in Ansonia at this point.”
The employees of Coordinated Transportation Systems, which also has an office at 200 Main St., were added to the credit union’s ranks, he said.
Keet listed the city’s employees as other possible targets, telling Cassetti after the ribbon-cutting that he could install an ATM right in City Hall.
“We’ll talk about that,” Cassetti replied.
“We’re genuinely excited about being in Ansonia and look forward to a long, fruitful relationship,” Keet said.
The mayor was joined by State Rep. Linda Gentile, Aldermen Charles Stowe and Lorie Vaccaro, as well as Judy Larkin-Nicolari, the city’s treasurer.
Phil Lane, an economics professor at Fairfield University and chairman of the credit union’s board of directors, was also on hand, as was the board’s treasurer, Michael Tortora.
“It’s a great opportunity,” Lane said.
