Boston University’s College of Communication announced that Ivellisse Morales of Ansonia is the 2012 recipient of the Gerald Powers Public Relations Award, given to a graduating senior who has done outstanding work in the field of public relations.
The $2,500 annual award, granted each spring at the discretion of the dean and a faculty committee, was established in 1999 as a tribute to Prof. Emeritus Gerald Powers, who joined the faculty in 1964.
The public relations program at BU is the oldest in the country, created in 1947.
Morales, who will join more than 6,700 fellow graduates on Sunday at BU’s 139th commencement, will launch her career working at Cone Communications in Boston as an assistant account executive.
Founded in 1839, Boston University is an internationally recognized institution of higher education and research. With more than 30,000 students, it is the fourth largest independent university in the United States.
