Ansonia’s Portable Ice Rink Damaged By Vandals

City of Ansonia Facebook pageSomeone threw a metal barrel into the City of Ansonia’s temporary ice-skating rink at Nolan Field, the city announced Thursday.

Anyone with information about the vandalism should call the Ansonia Police Department at 203 – 735-1885.

The portable ice rink was purchased last year for $4,500. It holds 14,000 gallons of water.

It is 80 feet wide.

According to the Ansonia Facebook page, the rink was damaged twice this week by vandals.

The city has been waiting for the temperatures to drop so people can start skating.

As our Public Works department continues to monitor the progress of the ice rink freezing, they have experienced two instances of vandalism this week alone,” according to the Facebook post.

Skating is free. The rink is at 350 Wakelee Avenue.
