Valley United Way: Flynn Nominations Due, Tons Of Other Info

The deadline for some events sponsored by the Valley United Way is rapidly approaching.

—Deadline Approaching for Charles H. Flynn Award— 

Friday Feb. 22 is the deadline to nominate a person for the Charles H. Flynn Humanitarian Award. 

The Valley United Way is accepting applications for the 2013 Humanitarian Award. The Charles H. Flynn award is the Valley’s oldest and most prestigious award for community service. The award has been presented annually since 1971. The award is given to a person whose service has been directed to the Valley community. 

The 2013 award winter will be announced in March and will be presented to that individual at the annual meeting in April. 

—Apply Now For Youth Leadership Programs—

The Valley United Way is now accepting applications for 2013 – 2014 Youth Leadership. The program is open to high school students within the Valley. 

In it’s 24th year, the program is designed to develop teens into future community leaders. The students learn about the needs of the community and the importance of nonprofit agencies. Enrollment is limited.

—First Annual Denim and Diamonds—

Denim and Diamonds is Saturday March 2, from 6:30 p.m. — 10:30 p.m. This is the first annual Denim and Diamonds and is a fundraiser to support Valley United Way. 

Registration is required in advance. The event will be at Molto Bene Italian American Kitchen, 557 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. Guests are able to come dressed in your best pair of jeans, for a night of dancing, socializing and a dinner from Molto Bene. All guests who attend will be entered to win their own diamond. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased by Monday Feb. 25.

—The Corporate Cup Begins Monday—

The Corporate Cup begins Monday Feb. 25. The Corporate Cup is hosted through Griffin Hospital and designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. The Corporate Cup kicks off with The Healthy Team Pre-Tasting Competition. 

The Healthy Team is just one of nine of Corporate Cup’s events over a three month span. For more information, click here.
