Arrest Made In Shelton Assault

Police arrested a Howe Avenue man Sunday on charges he took part in a beating that left a Shelton man unconscious on St. Patrick’s Day.

The man, Daniel Zeleznik, 23, was charged with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

Detectives conducted several interviews over the course of the week and on Saturday arrested Zeleznik on a warrant at his residence without incident, police said.

The victim, Jason Chevrier, 32, was found by passers-by shortly after midnight March 18 at the intersection of Coram Avenue and Kneen Street, according to police, unconscious and bleeding heavily from the face.

Police said he was in critical condition for two days at Bridgeport Hospital and sustained severe head and facial injuries that will require plastic surgery to correct.
Zeleznik posted a $100,000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Derby April 9.

Police said the investigation is continuing, and that anyone with information related to the assault should call police at 203 – 924-1544.
