Karen Bartone’s fine art exhibit of summer pond images, known as “Enchanted,” highlights the quiet, warm beauty of summer. The images are on display through April 17 at the Kellogg Environmental Center, 500 Hawthorne Ave. in Derby.
Bartone worked with oils and gold leaf to capture the stillness of water and summer reflections through the impressionistic style.
A special workshop titled “All that Glitters is Gold” will be held April 6 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kellogg Environmental Center. During this hands on and informative session, participants will be able to create and complete a small work of art using the gilding technique. The program will include a brief history Bartone’s work and use of this technique with insight into her style of painting.
All materials and supplies, including the gold leaf, will be provided for a fee of $20 payable on the day of the workshop. To register for the art class, call (203) 734‑2513. The class is for ages 9 and up. There is no charge for you to come and meet the artist or to visit the exhibition.
