Ansonia firefighters made short work of an attic fire at a home on North Cliff Street Tuesday evening.
There were no injuries.
The blaze was reported about 7 p.m. in a single-family home at 34 N. Cliff St.
About 25 firefighters from nearby Eagle Hose Co. #6 and Webster Hose Co. #3 arrived to find a “very small” fire in the wall of the attic, Ansonia Fire Department Assistant Chief Michael Eheman said at the scene.
Firefighters stretched a hose from a nearby hydrant and put the fire out within about five minutes of arriving, Eheman said.
The blaze began in the area of an outlet on the outside of the house, Eheman said, and was confined to the attic wall in the immediate area of the outlet.
He said Fire Marshal Ralph Tingley was investigating the fire’s origin, but that it seemed electrical in nature.
“It was wiring that shorted out,” Eheman said. “The homeowner said he was trying to feed a (wire) out and he feels it got chafed when it went through the siding.”
Firefighters were wrapping up at the scene by about 7:20 p.m.
