Bad Sons Brewery Teaming With Roseland Apizza

DERBY — BAD SONS Beer Co. on Roosevelt Drive is teaming with Roseland Apizza, Hawthorne Avenue’s famous family-style Italian restaurant.

The news came during a recent meeting of the Derby Planning & Zoning Commission, where Bill DaSilva, one of the breweries owners, told commissioners Roseland will be operating a satellite” kitchen, offering its renowned pizza pies to BAD SONS customers.

While the brewery has ample bar space for patrons, BAD SONS has never offered food that was prepared on premises. Instead, the brewery often teamed with food trucks, in addition to allowing customers to order food from nearby places such as The Dew Drop Inn and Roseland.

But scheduling the food trucks had proved difficult, DaSilva said, because the trucks would sometimes cancel. He said food trucks prefer to do private parties, where the operators can make a bigger profit.

It was really just a scheduling nightmare,” DaSilva said. It was always last minute we’d have to call somebody else.

DaSilva didn’t say when specifically when Roseland would start, saying BAD SONS has to build out a kitchen.
