Voters in Seymour Tuesday approved borrowing $6 million for road and building repairs.
The town asked for permission to borrow $4.5 million for road repairs. Voters approved the question 5,362 to 2,071.
The town also asked for permission to borrow $1.5 million for building repairs. It was approved 5,289 to 2,390.
Officials had said the borrowing won’t raise taxes because old debt is coming off the books.
“I think the people recognize the hard work and effort we have put in the last five years reinvesting in our infrastructure,” First Selectman Kurt Miller said. “It’s great to see that these issues achieve this much support. The people are truly behind what we’re doing and they understand the vision that we’ve laid out. And quite honestly, I think the results speak for themselves.”
