Have pizza, will travel — even to Orange.
Bella’s Pizza opened at 9 Minerva St. last month, giving the lower Valley another pizza option — one that delivers.
The location, across from the Derby City Hall parking lot, has seen several pizzerias come and go.
Owner Feizo Zeko hopes his success will be his willingness to go the distance. He’ll deliver as far as Oxford, Orange and Woodbridge.
(Update, March 2014: Zeko later sold the business)
His delivery wait times so far are 40 minutes, at the most, he said.
This isn’t Zeko’s first time tossing pizza dough. His family owns Primo Pizza and Bella Napoli pizzerias in Bridgeport, Milford and Stratford. Zeko has been helping out at the shops since he was a kid.
Zeko purchased the location several months ago, though he wouldn’t say how much he spent to renovate and fix the place up in anticipation of last month’s opening. It’s a welcome splash of color of Minerva Street.
The inside of the restaurant is reminiscent of the Italian flag, with its green walls and red trim. Several small tables and chairs allow nearly 20 people to eat their food inside at a time.
At the moment, Bella’s is offering a sweet takeout special. Mondays through Thursdays, patrons can pick up large cheese pizzas for just $6.45. This represents a 35 percent discount off the pie, which would normally cost $9.95.
The pizzeria is open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. The phone number is 203 – 732-3400.
