UPDATE: Bomb Threat At Seymour High School

Seymour High School has received a bomb threat, police said.

The Seymour Police Department responded to the scene Friday morning to investigate, according to Capt. Paul Beres.

Police have not found anything as of 11:30 a.m., Beres said.

Details were not yet available as to exactly what time or how the threat was conveyed.

Students will be dismissed early, Beres said, although he didn’t know yet the specific time of dismissal.

As standard procedure, the police department has secured the high school, Beres said.

Seymour schools released this message through its communication system:

Seymour High School has received a bomb threat today. Nothing has been verified at this time but as a precautionary measure, we are dismissing Seymour High School students so authorities can do a more thorough investigation.

Please ask parents to not call the high school or come to the high school as it interferes with the investigation.

Once the building is cleared there will be a one hour window of opportunity for students to pick up critical items such as car keys. If there is homework, projects or tests due on Monday additional time will be given to students.

Therefore this window of time is NOT to pick up books or school materials.

Trend?

Shelton schools received three false bomb threats in October. Three students have been arrested in the investigation there, and more arrests could be pending.
