The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley announced Monday it has opened an after school program in the Seymour Community Center.
Programming will run from 2 to 6 p.m., the club announced, and Seymour school buses will transport club members from school directly to the clubhouse.
The move has been in the works since last summer, when the town agreed to spend up to $55,500 renovating part of the community center at 20 Pine St. to house the Boys & Girls Club.
A $2,000 special needs grant from the Valley United Way also helped the club open its new Seymour location.
A press release issued Monday by the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley contained the following information:
- Cost is $125 a month for children ages 5 – 7 and $75 a month for ages 8 to eighth grade. Transportation is free.
- The program will run on scheduled half-days and early dismissals due inclement weather. While the Seymour Clubhouse will not be open during school vacations, Club members are welcome to attend either of the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley’s units in Shelton or Ansonia.
- The program offers homework help, sports, gym games, and fun activities. Registration is all online at www.BGC-LNV.org. A Transportation Request Form from the Seymour Public School system must be completed and returned to the schools at least one week prior to the child’s start date if they will be riding the school bus to our program. The form may be downloaded from our website.
