SHELTON — Over twenty years of dedication and hard work culminated in celebration on Thursday, October 21st as board members, alumni, staff, and friends of the Boys & Girls Club gathered to dedicate their new pavilion and splash pad.
Named “Jimmyland” after long-time Director of Operations Jim Queen, the splash pad and pavilion are a result of his vision and efforts. Along with Queen, the Club thanks Pat Knott of Conn-Professional Water Services, AJ Grasso, the Alumni & Friends Association, Lanese Construction, Inc., the Raymond P. Lavietes Foundation, The Own Your Future Foundation, and Ullrich Electrical Construction for their time, talent, and treasure in making this dream a reality.
Shaye Roscoe, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club said, “We are so proud to dedicate this space as Jimmyland in honor of Jim Queen, who kept sight of this ultimate goal for so many years. The pavilion and splash pad will provide a safe, fun place for our members to spend time as well as offer the community a much-needed splash pad and gathering space.”
The pavilion and splash pad will be utilized by all Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley members during summer camp and for special events. It is also available for rental for corporate events, parties, and community gathers.
