If you enjoy being around young children, your volunteer efforts are needed now more than ever for Bradley School’s “Kindergarten Corps” in Derby.
Bradley School is seeking volunteers to donate a few hours per day or per week in the upcoming school year to assist students and teachers in three kindergarten classrooms.
Volunteers are particularly needed for the first few weeks of school to help the “little ones” learn new school routines.
Volunteers can make a big difference in the lives of Bradley School kindergarteners by helping them:
- Get settled in the classroom at the beginning of the day;
- Work together in small groups on letter practice and/or painting projects;
- Get ready for dismissal at the end of the day;
- Learn how to find their way to and from buses and classrooms; and
- Learn routines in the cafeteria, on the playground and in the hallways.
Volunteers are needed from 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who participate in the “Kindergarten Corps” may donate their time for full days but also short “shifts,” such as 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; 10 a.m . to noon; and noon to 2:25 dismissal. Those who volunteer on a regular basis for four or more hours a day will receive a “Kindergarten Corps” tee-shirt and free school lunches, thanks to Sodexho Food Services.
All volunteers must undergo a Derby Board of Education background check that includes being fingerprinted.
