Classical Music In Shelton

John the New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) and Music Director William Boughton Sunday April 10 at 3 p.m. at Shelton Intermediate School for Classic Brahms, featuring Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 in D Major” and Brahm’s Symphony No. 4.”

Joseph Haydn’s joyous harmonies are complemented by the poetic and grand Fourth Symphony by Brahms. Symphony No. 101 by Haydn, commonly known as The Clock” due to the rhythm heard throughout the second movement, has been a popular crowd favorite since its London premiere in 1794. Brahms’ Fourth is perhaps the most intense and profound of all his symphonies, starting simply with a sigh in the violins and taking the listener on a constantly evolving emotional journey.
