Brian Koskelowski Applies For Probation

Brian Koskelowski, the son of Seymour First Selectman Robert Koskelowski, applied for accelerated rehabilitation Wednesday at Superior Court in Derby.

State police arrested Koskelowski, 44, July 1 after he allegedly used his volunteer fire department emergency lights in an attempt to pull over a motorist on Route 8.

Shortly after the incident Koskelowski told the Valley Independent Sentinel that the motorist had just passed him using the breakdown lane and that he was just trying to get the driver’s attention.

State police charged him with three misdemeanors — criminal impersonation, reckless driving and improper use of lights.

He was also accused of misusing his emergency lights in 2008 — for which he paid a fine.

Accelerated rehabilitation is a form of probation where, if the defendant serves two year without another arrest, the charge is erased from their record.

Whether the prosecutor will object to Koskelowski’s application remains to be scene.

I need to speak with the victim before I can make a determination on what the state’s position is going to be,” prosecutor Marjorie Sozanski said.

Koskelowski is scheduled to appear in court again Oct. 29.

A message seeking comment was left with his attorney, Edward R. Giacci.
