A Bridgeport man was hospitalized Monday night after he lost control of his car on Route 8, causing it to flip and land on its roof, state police said.
Jessie Godwin, 33, was traveling southbound in the left lane just south of exit 12 when his 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse veered off the road into the median and rolled onto its roof, according to a state police accident information summary.
The crash occurred just after 10 p.m. Monday.
Firefighters from Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 1 and Huntington Fire Co. 3 were dispatched to the area and worked to extricate Godwin within 10 minutes of arriving.
Godwin was then taken to the Bridgeport Hospital for treatment minor cuts to his face and a possible concussion, according to police.
The car was totaled, according to the accident summary.
