Bus Service For Waterbury Branch

Here’s the press release from Metro-North:

Waterbury Branch Busing July 13 to Aug. 14

Bus service will replace all Waterbury Branch weekday and weekend train service from July 13 through August 14.

During this time, Metro-North will install 15,200 ties and resurface 19 miles of track south of Derby Station to Waterbury, as well as repair the steel truss bridge over the Naugatuck River at Ansonia.

This continuous outage will allow work to continue uninterrupted on weekdays, and enable preparatory and clean-up to occur on weekends.

This tie replacement project is required to sustain train service reliability.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation and Metro-North regret any inconvenience to Waterbury Branch customers during this improvement.

Tie replacement and bridge maintenance on the Waterbury Branch requires the suspension of train service between Bridgeport and Waterbury from July 13 through Aug. 14. Substitute buses will replace 15 weekday trains and 10 weekend trains, resulting in longer travel times for all customers on the Waterbury Branch.
