Cabrera Recognizes Two Valley Eateries

Earlier this month, state Sen. Jorge Cabrera noted that Relish Wine Bar and Grill in Ansonia and Riverwalk Social in Derby for receiving $5,000 grants from the Connecticut Restaurant Relief Fund program, thanks to a partnership with the Connecticut Restaurant Association and delivery technology service DoorDash.

I am pleased to see these two great restaurants and staples of our Valley community receive this grant funding,” Cabrera said in a prepared statement. Restaurant workers have been on the frontlines of this pandemic, feeding our families, being flexible in their approach to service to ensure customers can enjoy their meals safely and, in doing so, bringing a measure of normalcy in our lives as we navigate this unprecedented time.”

The first wave of 92 grant recipients represent all eight counties and 57 different towns and cities and are to be used to cover operating costs such as rent, payroll and personal protection equipment, and expanding outdoor dining capacity as spring and summer approach.

DoorDash contributed an additional $500,000 to the relief fund in January as part of the company’s $200 million, five-year Main Street Strong Pledge. This included a $10 million grant program to help restaurants in select cities across the United States and Canada. Grant availability is based on available funds and is limited to one per restaurant group.
