CALL FOR DERBY CULTURAL COMMISSION MEMBERS/ VOLUNTEERS AND SPECIAL THANKS TO THE COMMUNITY FOR A SUCCESSFUL 2022!

DERBY — The Derby CT Cultural Commission is seeking members and volunteers to work various traditional events held throughout the year; and to uplift the Arts and with emphasis to World Diversity to the Derby Community. The Appointments are for three years. The basic requirements are that you donate time for the last Monday of the month meeting and of course project time. Volunteering requirements are for a particular holiday event of your choice and to take on a long-term project. Do you enjoy synergy; the arts; community with like-minded people? JOIN US!

Projects include: Neighborhood Welcome Basket, Student Cultural Scholarship Awards; Derby Student Music & Art promotion; Identify and uplift local Derby Artists; Support Downtown Derby Merchants; Planning~ contemporary art murals, Derby Tourism promotion; Social Media promotion of Derby Homes & Park Photography; World Flag Raisings and International Community Celebrations and Fashion Shows; Collaborate with similar local and regional arts entities, host traditional holiday events. These are some of the exciting objectives and goals in the works; and, there is something for everyone whether volunteering or on the Commission!

  • Ramadan Pakistan Flag Raising at City Hall
  • Easter Holiday Fun on The Derby Green

  • Mother’s Day, Glamour Shots on the Derby Green
  • Memorial Day Parade with the Catholic War Vets Post 1562
  • Pride Day Flag Raising at City Hall
  • Derby Day 2022 and International Fashion Show
  • Shelton/Derby Fourth of July Fireworks & Music Celebration
  • Summer/Fall Concerts on the Derby Green
  • Rock The Valley with the Ansonia Cultural Commission
  • Israel Flag Raising at City Hall
  • Italy Flag Raising at City Hall
  • Halloween Festivities Fun on The Derby Green
  • Halloween Lantern Tour at the Derby Historical Society
  • Holiday Tree Lighting & Toy Drive on the Derby Green
  • Wreaths Across America with the Catholic War Veterans Post 1562.

The Commission requirements aside from Volunteer time are that you are a resident of Derby, CT; that you are eighteen years of age or older; and, you have a passion for the Arts. If you have Grant Writing skills that is a Bonus! Again, we also are seeking VOLUNTEERS” who wish to assist with project events on a lighter basis.
