Canoe Launch Ready In Seymour

There will be a short ceremony held at the new canoe launch in Keith Mitchell forest honoring the two Eagle Scouts Dustin Zrelak and Justin Gittings who built the launching ramp and support structures. The ceremony was scheduled for May 16 but was postponed due to the rain.

The Conservation Commission paid for the sign that will be installed at the site.

The members of the Conservation Commission are invited to attend the ceremony and show your appreciation for the hard work the two scouts did in the construction of this project.

The ceremony will begin at time to be announed in the parking area for the launching facility. Brief remarks will be made by First Selectman Paul Roy and the Conservation Commission.

Feel free to bring your canoe or kayak and paddle into the Housatonic River. This is currently the only Town access to the Housatonic River, made possible by the hard work of the two scouts.
