Two Ansonia High School softball players were transported to the hospital for “precautionary” reasons after a car clipped a bus they were riding Wednesday, according to police.
Lt. Andrew Cota said Thursday the accident occurred about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Prindle Avenue and Platt Street, as the team was returning from a game to the high school at 20 Pulaski Highway.
The bus was traveling up Platt Street while a car driven by a 35-year-old Derby woman was traveling south on Prindle Avenue at the same time.
Cota said the Derby woman clipped the bus while bearing left to travel toward Derby on Prindle Avenue.
Four girls were evaluated at the scene, Cota said, and two were sent to the hospital as a precaution.
There were no serious injuries, Cota said.
He said the Derby woman was found at fault for failure to grant the right of way to the school bus.
Emergency personnel cleared the scene by about 6:45 p.m.
