The case against a suspected burglar who allegedly led Seymour police on a high-speed chase Dec. 21 has been transferred to Superior Court in Milford, where more serious criminal cases are heard.
Douglas Fast, 47, faces nine criminal charges after an 18-year-old Seymour student home from college allegedly interrupted Fast stealing from the teen’s Patrick Drive house.
The teen called the cops. Fast fled in his car. Police caught up with him on Route 8 — after deploying “stop sticks.” Click here for more information.

Police also said they found a large amount of cash and jewelry inside Fast’s Stratford home. Seymour police believe Fast stole the items from homes in Seymour, Shelton, Monroe, Trumbull, Stratford and Orange.
Fast is charged with first-degree burglary, interfering with an officer, second-degree criminal mischief, carrying a dangerous weapon, use of a facsimile firearm near emergency personnel, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, engaging police in pursuit, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension and improper use of a license plate.
The weapons charges were lodged because police said Fast made it seem like he had a gun on him when police tried to take him into custody after the chase. Click here for more on that.
Fast, still incarcerated, appeared briefly in court before Judge Burton Kaplan Tuesday morning.
His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 24 at Superior Court in Milford.
