Cat Dies In Seymour Fire

A cat died and several vehicles were destroyed when a garage fire broke out at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on Pearl Street.

Fire Chief Tom Tomasheski said three engines and a rescue truck responded to the one-alarm fire at 200 Pearl St. before sunrise. It was a detached garage, so the blaze did not spread to the house.

A car and two all terrain vehicles in the garage were badly damaged by the fire, the chief said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It took 20 minutes to extinguished the blaze, the second garage fire within a 12-hour period between Oxford and Seymour. A car fire burned a garage and made a home uninhabitable on Rees Drive in Oxford Monday at 12 p.m.
