Catholic War Vets Hold Annual Picnic At West Haven Veterans Hospital

DERBY — The following information was sent by Thomas Voytek, the commander of Catholic War Veterans Post 1562:

The Catholic War Veterans of Connecticut recently held their annual picnic at the West Haven Veterans Hospital, feeding over 300 patients, staff and family members from the Fisher House.

CWV Post members from their posts in Derby, Danbury and Bridgeport served hot dogs, hamburgers, various salads, watermelon and desserts, while the attendees listened to music played by the Magnificent Brass and MegaWatt.

Table games and verbal interaction with the patients took place. Magazines, word search and puzzle books were given to the patients. The Raging Knights (local fire fighters group) assisted with the cooking and setting things up. Breakfast was cooked for all helpers prior to the picnic.

Thank you to everyone who donated too and supported this year’s picnic.
