There is no clear indication of what sparked a fire Wednesday in the basement of a house at 2 Beechwood Terrace.
Fire Marshal Ray Tingley said the cause is listed as undetermined — and could remain that way.
The fire caused moderate damage to the basement. There was a good deal of smoke damage to the home’s main floor, Tingley said.
There were no injuries reported.
The house as inhabitable as of Thursday morning and could remain that way for some time due to the extent of the damage to the electrical wiring in the basement.
The fire was reported about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
