State police are still investigating what led a Derby woman to be “ejected” from the Chevy Tahoe she was traveling in Sunday evening.
Glenda Rivera, 35, was in the passenger seat of a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe when she was ejected from the vehicle, according to a summary from state police.
She landed on Route 8 south just before exit 25 in Naugatuck.
She suffered a head injury. Rivera was initially listed in serious condition after the accident, but her status was upgraded to “good” as of Wednesday, according to the Naugatuck Patch.
State police are investigating, but haven’t commented beyond an initial accident summary which stated it was unclear “as to how the passenger became ejected.”
Rivera is being cared for at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The Tahoe was being driven by its owner, Gerald Nelson, 40, of Derby.
Nelson said Wednesday that Rivera has regained the ability to talk to people.
Nelson said he could not comment on what happened because police advised him not to talk while they investigate.
He said state police still have his vehicle and he has been calling every day since the incident to check on the status of the investigation.
