OXFORD – In preparation for the upcoming High Holidays, Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford is partnering with the Oxford Public Library to present an engaging and educational Shofar workshop. This unique program offers participants the opportunity to learn about one of the most significant traditions of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah.
The workshop, designed for adults, will provide an in-depth look at the significance of the shofar, a traditional instrument made from a ram’s horn, which is blown during the High Holidays. Those attending will not only observe the intricate process of making a shofar but will also be able to craft one themselves.
“We are excited to bring this special workshop to Oxford,” said Rabbi Shmaya Hecht, Co-Director of the Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford. “The shofar is a powerful symbol of reflection and renewal, and this hands-on experience allows participants to connect in a more personal way with the traditions of the High Holidays.”
This program is geared for adults, is free of charge, and all materials will be provided. Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to RSVP in advance at www.oxfordlib.org/programs.
